It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a- OMG, IT’S AN ASTEROID! by Michelle - NASA’s Dawn spacecraft was captured into orbit around the massive asteroid Vesta after a 1.7 billion-mile journey and is preparing to begin a study of a surface that may date to the earliest era of the solar system, the space agency said Monday. This is exciting news because the Dawn is the first spacecraft to achieve orbit around a Protoplanet. And interestingly enough, Vesta is the second most massive object in the main Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter. (source)
Recently, I have been the most massive object orbiting in my life. Me, me, me! I’m moving into a new apartment and the entire process is just incredible. I bought a couch today, which is, like, one of the first, like, adult, like, things I’ve had to do. (LOOK AT ME NOW, MA) Hopefully once August hits (and I get a better a/c system) I can revolve a little slower and take life a little easier.
Dawn will hopefully uncover and photograph some interesting new textures on its mission - something I hope to NOT discover in the dark corners of my new apartment.
MY TUESDAY POST!
