“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2” is coming out tonight at midnight. With Potter-mania reaching critical mass I, like many others, have thought about what it would be like to be a wizard. There seem to be quite a few Pros and Cons.

PRO:

1. You get to be a freaking wizard or witch. And do magic. M-A-G-I-C. This one should just be covered right off the bat. Awesome.

2. You get to ride around on super fast broomsticks and play a game called “Quidditch” that seems INCREDIBLY dangerous to play zooming stories over the spectators. That’s awesome.

3. Not only are you a wizard, but you’re surrounded by giants, werewolves, dragons, and hippogriffs. Basically you live in a 12 year old nerd’s sketch book and, yes, that’s awesome.

4. You don’t have to deal with stupid Bank of America overdraft fees anymore. It’s all about Gringotts and the goblins who work there in the wizard world. Cha-ching! That’s the sound of one “awesome” being rung up.

5. All of your pictures get to be these great little moving instead of boring old static pictures. A picture is worth a thousand awesomes.

However…

CONS:

1. Everyone carries their wands around to do their aforementioned magic, but each wand has the capability to kill or at least stun. That’s like everyone you know walking around with a handgun “just in case.”

2. Quidditch is awesome, but it does sort of seem like the NASCAR of wizarding events in that I feel like everyone can’t wait for someone to plummet off of a broom.

3. Polyjuice Potion. So, anyone you know could just be someone else in disguise. That’s messed up.

4. Ghosts are everywhere and they seem to be, at best, an annoyance. At least when they’re not creepily hitting on you. (I’m looking at you Myrtle!)

5. Dementors. Oh, so we keep these things around the jail to suck the happiness (and potentially the souls) out of everyone? And what do we do when they escape? Basically just tell them to go away with our wands? Yeah, this all seems like a great idea. Let’s keep them around, that can’t come back to bite us.

Having said all of these, the pros outweigh the cons. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
